Special Art Sales: Sotheby’s will resume specialized sales of Latin American art this fall in response to clients’ “strong preference,” the New York auction house announced Tuesday. Sotheby’s closed its Latin American department in January and incorporated a few Latin American pieces in May’s modern and contemporary art sales. But those works did not do well and Christie’s snapped up the bulk of business--including a $1.65-million self-portrait by Mexican artist Frida Kahlo.
