Wayne Feinstein, executive vice president of the Jewish Federation Council of Greater Los Angeles since 1986, will step down this summer to take up a similar position in San Francisco, a spokeswoman for the federation said.

Feinstein, the highest-ranking professional at the federation, oversees a fund-raising and social service organization that took in $50 million last year, about half of which goes to local charities and the rest to Israel and other foreign countries.

Previously, he was executive vice president of a similar body in Detroit.

Feinstein said he had other offers during the last four years, but that he decided to move to San Francisco to be closer to his wife’s family.
