No Decision on Charges in Raid of Bridal Shower

Los Angeles County Dist. Atty. Ira Reiner still has not decided if misdemeanor rioting charges will be filed against three sisters whose Cerritos home was raided by sheriff’s deputies breaking up a bridal shower.

A July 31 trial date was set Friday in Bellflower Municipal Court, but a pretrial hearing will be held July 24 to determine if the prosecution and defense are ready.

The 1989 raid caused a furor in the Southland’s Samoan-American community. Leaders charged that members of the Dole family, whose home was raided, were victims of discrimination and police brutality. The three sisters are Emily, Sheron and Olanda Dole.
