Baldwin Park : Workers Protest Pay Plan

Share

Representatives of the police officers and city employees associations Wednesday night protested plans by the City Council to withhold cost-of-living increases for all employees in order to balance the $25-million 1991-92 budget.

Police Sgt. Randy Emon told the council he fears the already understaffed police force will lose more trained officers to higher-paying departments if there are no raises this year. Union representative David Trowbridge said city staffers will actually suffer a cut in take-home pay if they get no raises because their medical insurance costs are likely to rise.

A final budget hearing is scheduled June 19.
