Bank Ad Deplored
The Big Blue Buses in Santa Monica have an ad for Santa Monica Bank that says, “Money is like therapy, only cheaper.” I object to these ads, and have written to President Aubrey Austin of the bank, asking that they be changed.
The fact is, our society has decided that therapy is not worth spending money on, and has closed down mental health centers and otherwise denied needed services to the mentally ill, at great cost to the ill and to all of us.
I am one of the mentally ill, and I can testify that therapy is better than money. Money can’t save your life, or keep you on medication, or help you be a well person.
Would Santa Monica Bank run ads that joked about kidney transplants, or artificial legs, or penicillin?
