The McFadden Square Improvement Assn. and the city will sponsor a community celebration next week to recognize the completion of a $3-million improvement project near the Newport Pier.
City and county officials will be on hand June 18 from 5 to 7 p.m. for a ribbon-cutting ceremony and the dedication of a new plaza and other area facilities recently completed at the pier.
The celebration will include a Nautical Museum exhibit, open house at the new lifeguard headquarters, a fish barbecue and music.
