A bomb exploded in a Protestant housing area southwest of Belfast on Sunday, damaging more than 40 homes and slightly injuring two people, police said.

No group claimed responsibility. However, the attack was similar to an Irish Republican Army bombing at a housing project May 24.

Police said at least 500 pounds of homemade explosives had been packed into a stolen car and abandoned in Donacloney, 20 miles southwest of Belfast.
