Williamson Places Third, Kidwell Is Fourth at the St. Paul Biathlon

After an impressive first-leg run and biking segment, Del Mar’s Mac Williamson was chased on the second-leg run of the Coors Light Biathlon of St. Paul and faded to third Sunday at Lake Phalen.

Williamson, 26, finished in 1:15.48, behind Michael Tobin of Ketchum, Ida., who won in 1:15.13, and Brent Steiner of Tempe, Ariz., who took second in 1:15.32.

Vista’ Kristi Kidwell, 30, was off the winning pace in the women’s division, but her 1:27.46 was good enough for fourth. Sally Grand of Plymouth, N.H., covered the 5K run, 30K bike and another 5K run in a winning 1:25.10.

British Columbia’s Carol Montgomery was second and Series Grand Prix leader Barbara Brewer of Brooklyn, N.Y., was third.
