Expansive Piece Forgot About Royals
Jim Murray is always entertaining and usually accurate in his reporting. However, with regard to his column on baseball expansion (June 9), he writes: “It’s illuminating to reflect that only two expansion teams have ever made it to the World Series--the Mets and the Padres.”
I’d like to remind him of the Kansas City Royals, who lost to the Philadelphia Phillies in the 1980 World Series and beat St. Louis in the 1985 World Series.
