PagerPhone Deal: Universal Cellular Inc., the Anaheim-based developer of a cellular phone with pager capabilities, said it has reached an agreement with a South Korean company to distribute Universal’s PagerPhone in South Korea.

The PagerPhone is a pocket-size phone that the company says gives cellular phone users a measure of privacy by allowing them to view phone numbers of incoming calls and choose which calls to return at their convenience. Developed by Universal executives James Wohl and Cliff Tompkins, the phone is manufactured by Japan Steel Works Ltd.

Universal began selling the PagerPhone for $1,895 each at cellular phone dealerships across the United States earlier this year. Dae Sung-Tel, a cellular telephone distribution company, has about 400 dealers in South Korea.
