Victory Parades

Share

I was reading your article on the parade in Washington (June 9) when a commercial came on the television. I thought it was another feed-the-hungry in Ethiopia when I realized it was talking about a kid in Pennsylvania.

On one hand, I was reading an article telling how $12 million was spent on the parade, viewed by only 200,000 people. On the other, I was listening to how people in Pennsylvania were suffering from the “economic slowdown.”

How cruel a nation we are to spend this incredible sum of money to glorify planned war, painful death and purposeful killing, when we are almost unknowingly killing the future generations of America. How cruel the President is to weep at the deaths of young Americans that he planned. Should not our goal as a nation be to ensure that people on this soil have somewhat of an equal ability to live?
