Rose Bowl Ban on Beer at UCLA Games Extended

The Pasadena City Council voted 5 to 1 Tuesday to extend the ban on beer sales at UCLA football games at the Rose Bowl, a measure that council members said will limit fights and “general obnoxiousness” at the stadium.
The city and UCLA, however, lost an estimated $164,000 in beer revenues since the ban was imposed last year, a staff report said.
Fistfights, foul language and “general obnoxiousness” originally prompted the council to impose the ban. “We used to have alcohol-related fights and a lot of people driving home drunk,” said Councilman William Thomson. “There have been no alcohol-related problems and the moratorium has definitely been working.”
