Hospital Launches Drive to Fund Emergency Center

Glendale Memorial Hospital and Health Center launched a drive this week to raise $5 million toward completion of a new heart and emergency center that already is under construction. The hospital said its effort is the largest capital campaign in the history of Glendale.

Groundbreaking ceremonies were held last August, and the five-story addition is scheduled to open in mid-1992. It will allow Glendale Memorial to centralize and expand its services for cardiac, surgical and emergency patients, hospital officials said. The structure is expected to cost $20 million.

Linda King, vice president of development at Glendale Memorial, said hospital employees, volunteers and medical staff members already have pledged donations. She said the hospital now is opening the public phase of its capital campaign, seeking community support for the expansion project.
