Burleigh Wartes; Documentary Cinematographer

Burleigh Wartes, 58, award-winning cinematographer who filmed the innovative “On the Wing” on the history of flight for IMAX theaters. Wartes filmed more than 100 documentaries in more than 40 countries, including three that won Academy Awards: “Gods of Metal,” “The Gifts” and “Straight Talk.” He won an Emmy for his documentary “For Export Only.” Wartes’ most recent work was “Superstar: The Life and Times of Andy Warhol,” released to commercial theaters earlier this year. On Tuesday in Norwalk, Conn., of undisclosed causes.
