Nation IN BRIEF : NATIONWIDE : Governors Pick Gore as Best ’92 Candidate

The nation’s Democratic governors believe that Sen. Albert Gore Jr. of Tennessee represents their party’s best hope for capturing the White House next year, a poll conducted for Newsweek magazine by the Gallup Organization shows. Gore was named the strongest prospective Democratic presidential candidate by 21% of the Democratic governors and aides questioned, followed by Sen. Sam Nunn of Georgia with 17%, Arkansas Gov. Bill Clinton with 13% and New York Gov. Mario M. Cuomo with 8%.
