The nation's Democratic governors believe that Sen. Albert Gore Jr. of Tennessee represents their party's best hope for capturing the White House next year, a poll conducted for Newsweek magazine by the Gallup Organization shows. Gore was named the strongest prospective Democratic presidential candidate by 21% of the Democratic governors and aides questioned, followed by Sen. Sam Nunn of Georgia with 17%, Arkansas Gov. Bill Clinton with 13% and New York Gov. Mario M. Cuomo with 8%.
