Bush Gives Mexico a Trade Boost: President Bush will allow Mexico to export duty-free to the United States 29 products ranging from shelled pecans to battery parts. The loosening of trade restrictions was granted in a waiver of import ceilings under the generalized system of preferences. Currently, Mexico can export the goods duty-free only if they represent less than 50% of total U.S. imports of the products or until their value reaches $92 million. Mexico sold the United States $2.4 billion worth of the goods last year.
