Maywood : City Hall Employees Will Switch to 4-Day Workweek

Share

City Hall is going to a four-day workweek beginning Monday, but will expand its daily hours.

The new hours are a result of Maywood’s attempts to follow Southern California Air Quality Management District guidelines mandating employers to come up with ways of reducing air pollution. The Maywood General Employees’ Assn. accepted the city’s four-day proposal during recent contract negotiations.

City officials said that the new hours will lighten traffic by reducing the number of trips that employees make to the office each week.

City Hall offices will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, making a 9-hour day with 1-hour lunch break, and 36-hour week. The old hours were 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
