Cerritos : City Will Spend $400,000 on Jacobs Park Improvements
Jacobs Park on the south side of Cerritos will be getting a $400,000 face lift. Plans to improve the recreational site were approved by City Council members last week.
A picnic area, volleyball court and playground equipment will be added to an undeveloped area of the park, which spans a residential block between Yearling and Bertha streets. The existing playground equipment on the developed side of the park will be torn out and replaced with a playground and sandbox for preschool youngsters.
The block-long, rectangular piece of property, which the city leases from Southern California Edison Co., was designed as a neighborhood park. The city will allow homeowners to build entrance gates to give families direct access to the park. Some already have gates.
The renovations are expected to begin in September and be completed in about six weeks.
