Weekend Bluegrass Festival
Three days of music, dancing, workshops and camping are slated for this year’s San Diego Bluegrass Festival. The festivities begin Friday at the Lake Henshaw Resort in the Laguna Mountains and run through Sunday evening.
Live music will be provided by a multitude of bands from around the country, including the Lonesome River Band, High Window Boys, Piney Creak Weasels and High Strung. Local talent includes Ol’ Train, Sweetwater, Hickory Ridge and the Shy Persons Bluegrass Band.
Band members will conduct workshops and supervised children’s activities will be available. Music and instruments will be offered for sale at concession booths.
Swimming, fishing and bird watching are part of the package for festival goers. The music continues into the late night with jam sessions around the campfires.
Tickets, including camping, are $45 for all three days. Day tickets are $12 Friday, $15 Saturday and $14 Sunday. Children under 13 are free.
Festival tickets are available from Real Music for Real People in San Diego or by calling the hotline at 740-2419. For camping or cabin reservations, call the Lake Henshaw Resort at 782-3487.
