Former Rep. Mario Biaggi walked out of a Texas prison where he had been serving an eight-year sentence on bribery-related charges in the so-called Wedtech scandal. Biaggi left the U.S. Correctional Facility in Ft. Worth and flew to New York to be greeted by family and friends at his Bronx home, his lawyer said. A federal judge in Manhattan ruled Friday that the 73-year-old Biaggi could be released for medical reasons. The 10-term Democratic congressman started serving an eight-year sentence on April 10, 1989.
