SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO : Asteroids Topic of Public Forum

Asteroids and their potential for striking the earth will be the topic of a public forum Tuesday at Marco Forster Junior High School.

The forum, entitled “Is the Sky Falling?,” will cover topics including how asteroids have affected the earth, the possibility of future collisions and the environmental results that can be expected. David Morrison, chief of the space sciences division at NASA’s Ames Research Center and co-author of “Cosmic Catastrophes,” will speak.

A discussion will follow Morrison’s talk and will include asteroid experts Lou Friedman, executive director of the Planetary Society; Lori Garver, executive director of the National Space Society, and Robert Staehle, president of World Space Foundation.
