Driver Tom Kendall of La Canada, Calif., who broke his right thigh bone and both ankles when his Chevy Intrepid slammed into a tire wall during the Continental VIII IMSA Camel GT race Sunday at Watkins Glen, N.Y., was in satisfactory condition after nine hours of leg surgery.
