Credit at Last: The Writers Guild of America West has voted to correct the screen credit for the 1950 film, “Broken Arrow,” and the guild records will be changed to reflect that blacklisted writer Albert Maltz wrote the screenplay. In making the change, the Writers Guild board also voted “a strong statement of appreciation for the courage of screenwriter Michael Blankfort” who “fronted” for Maltz and originally was credited with writing the picture. Blankfort risked being blacklisted himself to help his friend. Maltz was blacklisted and imprisoned for refusing to cooperate with the House Committee on Un-American Activities.
