America West to Cut Wages: America West Airlines Inc., which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy last week, froze the wages of all employees and said it will cut salaries next month in a bid to cut costs and return to profitability. No details were immediately available on the airline’s plans to reduce wages next month. The airline employs about 10,700 people.
