Santa Paula Mayor John A. Melton has been reelected president of the National Assn. of Regional Councils, officials announced Tuesday.
Melton, whose term is for one year, served as president of the association last year and has been first and second vice president. The association, which is based in Washington, consists of more than 500 regional councils working on environmental and economic issues.
Melton, a former Council member and four-term mayor of Santa Paula, has also been president of the Southern California Assn. of Governments, a planning agency representing 143 cities and six counties including Ventura.
