A man committed suicide after taking a six-hour sky diving class by deliberately slipping out of his parachute’s harness during his descent, officials said Tuesday.

Sheriff’s investigators said a note was found on the body of Abdoulreza Khatibipour, 24, who recently moved to California from Massachusetts. It said he was unhappy and wanted to go to heaven.

After leaping from the plane, Khatibipour dumped his helmet, slipped out of his parachute’s harness and fell 500 to 700 feet to his death, authorities said.

Bill Gere, owner of Adventure Aerosports, said Khatibipour arrived in a taxicab at his parachute school in San Benito County, about 80 miles south of San Francisco, paying $171 for the fare.
