Fraternity’s Conduct

Share

The University of Southern California is concerned about the national problem of violence on college campuses and in society at large. I wish for readers to understand the following about our procedures and policies at USC:

1. We care deeply about all of the students at our university and work tirelessly to create the best possible learning and living environment.

2. We strive to treat all students in a fair and consistent manner according to clearly stated policies which students agree to. Our goal is to provide all students with the support and services needed to enhance their academic pursuits.

3. We offer victims of campus violence a wide array of support services to assist them in any difficult situation.

4. We aggressively encourage students to report incidents of violence and we cooperate fully with the Los Angeles Police Department in the investigation of campus incidents.

5. We initiate internal investigations when appropriate and especially when the LAPD is not conducting an investigation.

6. Our student conduct system affords those charged with violations the right to due process similar to that guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution.

7. We provide the victims of crimes the opportunity to determine the appropriate course of action which will best aid them in their healing process.

8. We spend a great deal of time and effort on doing what educational institutions do best--namely teaching. We continue to search for ways to teach students about appropriate behavior that will allow them to be productive and contributing members in our complex society.

We look forward to receiving the recommendations of the external review panel composed of experts in our community to see if we can more effectively serve our students. Our commitment is to provide our students with the best academic and extracurricular experience that is available.
