MISSION VIEJO : Real Estate Executive Joins Planning Panel

The City Council has appointed a real estate executive and longtime resident of the city to fill a vacancy on the Planning Commission.

By unanimous vote, Timothy Watson was selected to replace Charles Zimmerman, who resigned in May.

Watson is a 14-year resident of Mission Viejo. He is a vice president of PFT Inc., an Irvine-based real estate management company.

He was nominated for the commission seat by Councilman Robert D. Breton, who told the council that Watson was the best of a well-qualified group of candidates that sought the job.

“I was very impressed with the caliber of the applicants,” Breton said.

Watson takes the position at a crucial time in Mission Viejo, a planned community that is 95% built and is scheduled to be fully developed by 1995.

“There is a lot of pressure for us to strengthen city revenues and balance that with the very real concerns of the people who live here” about too much development, Watson said.

“I’m honored to be offered the job and I hope to give back to Mission Viejo some of what the city has given me over the years.”
