Gunman Kills Loan Office Worker, Wounds Another
Authorities on Thursday were seeking a suspect who entered a City of Industry loan office posing as a delivery man, then shot two employees, one fatally.
Sheriff’s officials and workers at the Loan Production Center-Care Trans Company said they knew of no possible motive for the attack, which occurred at about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. It appeared that no money was taken from the victims or the office, said Sgt. Noel Lanier of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.
After the shooting, employee Afrodicio Maylad, 58, of Covina, was taken to Queen of the Valley Hospital in West Covina, where he died two hours later. His co-worker, Filadelfo Serrano, 43, of Diamond Bar, was in stable condition Thursday at Covina Inter-Community Medical Center.
