NATION IN BRIEF : WASHINGTON, D.C. : Grocer Indicted in Food Stamp Fraud

A grocery store owner has been charged with illegally cashing in $7.2 million in food stamps, the largest fraud case in the history of the program, the Agriculture Department said. Michael K. Hebeka, owner of Ashland Food Center in Toledo, Ohio, was indicted by a federal grand jury. Hebeka, 57, had been convicted on federal food stamp fraud charges in 1984.
