From Times Staff and Wire Reports

A man who admitted he was high on cocaine lost track of his 3-month-old son, which prompted an all-night search in Mobile, Ala. The child was found safe in nearby woods being guarded by the family dog, a chow named Bear. The baby suffered only a few bug bites. He was placed in the custody of grandparents. Donnie Chastang, 26, had run through his neighborhood screaming that he could not find his son, then later remembered he had been in the woods, said a Mobile County Sheriff’s Department spokesman. A group of about 40 neighbors and deputies fanned out for a search. Chastang and the baby’s mother, 28-year-old Robyn Stack, were jailed.
