THOUSAND OAKS : Pair Who Won Golf Suit File New Claim

Share

A Thousand Oaks couple who won a $2,596 small-claims lawsuit against the city for damage to their house from errant golf balls have submitted a new claim.

John and Toni Picciolo have filed a claim for $378 in new damages, including a broken pot, roof tiles, patio table and garden window, from balls that were hit from the nearby Los Robles Golf Course.

The Picciolos won their first claim for damage compensation.

The city attorney’s office has recommended that the City Council reject the second claim when it meets Tuesday.

Earlier this month, the council agreed to reconfigure the golf course near the fifth hole to reduce the damage to surrounding houses.

Under a plan developed by a committee of homeowners and city officials, the tee will be moved 300 feet southeast, only several hundred yards away from homes that line the golf course. The city also will enlarge an existing chain-link fence.
