Peter Kalischer; Former CBS News Correspondent

Peter Kalischer 76, a former CBS News correspondent. From the end of World War II until 1952, he was a United Press correspondent in Japan and Korea. He joined CBS in 1957. He won the Overseas Press Club award in 1963 for best television reporting for his coverage of the death of Ngo Dinh Diem, the South Vietnamese president killed in a military coup. Kalischer was Paris correspondent from 1966 until 1978, when he left CBS News. He became an associate professor of communications at Loyola University in New Orleans, a position he held until 1982. On July 5 in New York City of a heart attack.
