U.S. OLYMPIC FESTIVAL LOS ANGELES 1991 : NOTEBOOK

Soviet softball: Victor Khotochin, the first vice president of the Soviet Union’s Baseball/Softball Federation, was amazed at what he saw Saturday when he visited the Festival’s softball competition at Hjelte Park.

“After seeing (Placentia’s) Michele Granger pitch, he told me that he couldn’t believe a woman could throw that fast,” Porter said.

Granger pitched a no-hitter, striking out 13 batters.
