The Anteaters, who open the men’s basketball season at home on Nov. 30 against San Diego State, will play host to USC, Houston and Kent in the Disneyland Freedom Bowl Classic on Dec. 6-7 in the Bren Center.
Irvine won its only other game against the Trojans, 78-66, Dec. 13, 1983, at USC. The Anteaters have never played Houston or Kent.
Rob Orellana, who last season coached boys’ basketball at Pius X High in Downey, has been hired as a part-time assistant to Baker.
Orellana, 26, coached the Warriors to the Camino Real League title and previously was an assistant at Pius X and Westchester.
