As many as 13 Rams could be declared absent without contract agreement when Coach John Robinson does his head count at today’s 4 p.m. meeting, which officially opens camp at UC Irvine.

The Rams signed four more draft choices Tuesday, leaving their top two selections and 10 veterans unsigned. Those signing were fourth-round pick Robert Bailey, a cornerback from Miami; seventh-rounder Tyrone Shelton, a fullback from William & Mary; eighth-rounder Pat Tyrance, a linebacker from Nebraska, and 12th-rounder Ernie Thompson, a fullback from Indiana.

The agent for No. 1 selection Todd Lyght reported no further progress in talks to sign the former Notre Dame cornerback but said he might speak to the Rams sometime Tuesday night. Second-rounder Roman Phifer, a linebacker from UCLA, also is unsigned.

The Rams announced no agreements with any of their 10 unsigned veterans or with wide receiver Flipper Anderson, who is signed but wants his contract renegotiated. The Rams are believed to be close to a deal with backup offensive lineman Robert Cox.
