Intel Corp.: The giant Santa Clara, Calif., computer chip manufacturer said second-quarter profit rose 35% to a record $231 million, while revenue gained 29% to $1.25 billion, also a record. Intel attributed the record earnings to the company’s ability to better meet demand for its popular 386 microprocessors.
