SAN CLEMENTE : Panel Approves Plans for 481 Homes

Share

The Planning Commission this week approved proposals to build 481 homes in the coming year under the city’s slow-growth law.

The homes are among seven projects proposed by three developers. All three development companies are expected to receive approval to build the units when the City Council reviews the planners’ recommendation next month.

In past years, developers vied in a lengthy approval process for home-building permits under a 1986 city law limiting residential development to 500 homes per year. However, because the city this year received proposals to build fewer than 500 homes, all permits could be granted, City Atty. Geoffrey C. Oderman said.

The developments include 16 homes to be built by the Lusk Co. in the Marblehead development, 127 houses proposed by Centex Homes in Forster Ranch and 338 homes to be built by the Arvida Co. in Talega Valley, the city’s newest planned community.
