Blue Line’s First Year

Share

I wish I could share the optimism you expressed editorially (“The Importance of the Blue Line,” July 16) for the success of the Metro Rail Blue Line train.

The fact is, the line is not adding riders--a fact made clear by the chart published in the Metro section (July 14). The loss of riders is even more serious when one considers the added hours the train is now running.

The Blue Line was built strictly to show Los Angeles that it could be done. Soon, the Green Line will be added to the system. I would love to know how many riders are projected to ride this line--a transportation link that does not currently exist. I can almost bet you that dismal ridership will be reported--again, with lofty projections about “the future.”
