County AIDS Law Is Unnecessary
Is our great American heritage of representative government a thing of the past? Are our elected officials truly public servants or puppets on strings to be pulled by unseen puppeteers?
Recently I went before the Board of Supervisors concerning the AIDS Anti-Discrimination Ordinance. Why, I asked, do we need such an ordinance? How many actual, documented cases of discrimination against HIV or AIDS persons have been reported in this county? The answer: silence, pure and clear. The reports presented with this ordinance have not one documented case.
So what is going on here? Why can’t the public be given time to fully investigate this matter? Who is pushing this issue from behind the scenes? And for what purposes? Who are these supervisors bowing to? On July 30, the ordinance is to be formally adopted, or should I say railroaded? America is still supposed to be a democratic republic. Or is it?
