PRO FOOTBALL : DAILY REPORT : AROUND THE NFL : Redskins’ Warren Breaks Ankle

Tight end Don Warren of the Washington Redskins suffered a broken right ankle during drills and will be lost for at least 10 weeks. Warren, a 12-year veteran from Mt. San Antonio College and San Diego State, was injured during the first play of a controlled scrimmage at the Redskins’ training camp in Carlisle, Pa. . . . Redskin quarterback Mark Rypien signed a contract and ended a 10-day holdout. Terms were not disclosed.

The Cincinnati Bengals probably will start the season without running back Ickey Woods, who injured his right knee during the team’s first contact drill at the team’s training camp in Wilmington, Ohio. Woods is expected to miss six weeks of practice and he may miss the season opener Sept. 1 at Denver.

New York Giant running back Rodney Hampton has been found not guilty on charges he harassed a female Jersey City, N.J., police officer at a nightclub in December.

The officer claimed in court papers that Hampton pinched her breasts during a party at Joey’s Place after the Giants’ 23-15 victory over the Minnesota Vikings on Dec. 10. She was off-duty when the alleged incident occurred.

The officer originally filed sexual molestation charges against Hampton, but they were later downgraded to harassment after a Passaic County grand jury found there was insufficient evidence to warrant the more serious charges.

Hampton maintained the incident never happened.
