Terry Schroeder of Agoura, who helped lead the U. S. water polo team to the FINA Cup championship with a win over Yugoslavia in Barcelona on Sunday, was one of three United States players chosen to the All-World Cup team.
Schroeder, 32, a three-time U.S. Olympian and the water polo coach at Pepperdine, scored the winning goal with two seconds left in overtime to give the United States a 6-5 win in the semifinal match against Spain.
Craig Wilson of Santa Barbara and Jeff Campbell of Irvine were also selected to the All-World Cup team from the U.S., which was chosen as the outstanding defensive team.
Wilson was also honored as the tournament’s outstanding goalkeeper.
U.S. Coach Bill Barnett was named the outstanding coach, the first time a U.S. coach has been so honored.
