Tonight’s forecast is guffaws when television weatherman Fritz Coleman takes the Ice House stage in Pasadena.

The moonlighting stand-up comic returns to his routines with Fritz and Friends, a comic threesome who will limber up the smiles before the lanky weatherman takes the spotlight.

A sampling of the Fritz wit?

* “Severe weather in California is when you can’t barbecue.”

* “As a weatherman in L.A., my primary function is to tell viewers if they can’t go to the beach tomorrow.”

* There’s dew on the Porsche, get me a Valium.”

Coleman’s whimsical, family-style comedy earned him spots on the “Tonight Show” and a local Emmy Award for a year-end comedy review, “‘86: You Had to Be There!”

A disc jockey and radio talk show host for 10 years at stations throughout the country, Coleman, 43, headed for Hollywood and better weather in 1980. He landed on local comedy stages and television specials and ultimately as weatherman at KNBC Channel 4.

Show time is 9 p.m. at 24 N. Mentor Ave., Pasadena. Admission is $7.50, plus a two-drink minimum. For reservations, call (818) 577-1894 after noon today.
