Feed Store Isn’t One in Article

We at Arroyo Feed in Fillmore would like to resolve some misconceptions that many readers have drawn from the recent article, “Drug Related Seizure . . . “ appearing in the Ventura County Edition on July 22.

The article concerns “a feed store” in Fillmore confiscated by police following a drug arrest. The article failed to mention that Arroyo Feed, Fillmore’s largest feed store, is not the subject of the article and has no connection whatsoever with this incident which took place two years ago. Although Arroyo Feed opened its doors well after the event, the need to make a clear distinction still remains.

It is a sad fact that drugs eventually find their way into every city, but the Fillmore community stands firm in its commitment to fight their spread.

Arroyo Feed stands squarely centered behind this effort, and through our membership in Rotary International, the fight continues as we seek alternatives and solutions to problems such as illegal drug use. The social thrust in Fillmore is also directed at supporting every organization that helps young adults find other interests away from drugs.

Fortunately, the article may help the true victims, Pat and Bud Untiedt, who as second mortgage holders on the seized property, are forced to stand by while their investment continues to hang in the balance.

To these fine people we express true regret. However, because the article failed to specifically name the targeted feed store, we have inadvertently been forced to share the damage caused by this whole episode.
