Ex-Aztec Subis Rejoins Workouts for the Broncos
The Denver Broncos had an offensive lineman return to practice Wednesday, but not the one on whom they were counting.
Veteran Jim Juriga remained out because of a back injury, but rookie Nick Subis rejoined workouts.
On July 16, Subis, out of San Diego State, partly tore a knee ligament, an injury that was expected to idle him for three to five weeks. He was back in pads, however, in just more than two weeks.
“Subis came back and looked pretty good,” Coach Dan Reeves said Wednesday. “I noticed a couple of plays where he did a good job of pass protecting.
“When he got hurt, it didn’t look like he could play this year. Now he looks like he could be a prospect for us.”
Reeves said the Broncos intend to keep Subis, a sixth-round draft choice, at center, although he also played guard and tackle in college. Reeves said he doubted if Subis would play in Friday night’s exhibition game against Indianapolis.
