Mutual Life Attempting to Raise Capital: Mutual Life Insurance Co. of New York confirmed that it has been in talks about ways to raise more capital, but insisted that it already has enough capital and reserves to meet obligations. The insurance company made the assertions after a report in the Wall Street Journal that it has held talks with a handful of other major insurers about deals that could boost its capital.
