Bell Industries to Close Unit: Bell Industries Inc. of Los Angeles said it will discontinue the business of its electronic systems division, which makes printed circuit boards for the defense industry. This action will result in a pretax charge of $3.5 million to operating results in the fourth quarter. The division had net sales of about $4.1 million and an operating loss of about $1.1 million for the fiscal year, before the non-recurring charge. Bell estimates that it will incur a net loss of $2.6 million for the quarter.
