BMW Buys Into California Design Firm: The Munich-based auto and motorcycle maker said it paid $4.5 million for 50% of Designworks/USA, a design consultancy in Newbury Park. “We know California, with its automotive culture, design houses and renowned institutions--such as the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena--plays an important role in influencing international design trends,” said BMW’s Wolfgang Reitzle. “We will utilize Designworks’ expertise to create international products with an American flair.”
