Varco International Inc.: The Orange-based manufacturer of oil and gas drilling equipment said that net income for the second quarter rose 89% from the second quarter a year ago, to $3.4 million, or 12 cents per share, from $1.8 million, or 7 cents per share. Revenue doubled, to $56 million from $27.6 million. Net income for the first half of 1991 totaled $6.6 million, or 23 cents per share, on revenue of $102.4 million. For the comparable 1990 period, net income was $3.2 million, or 12 cents per share, on revenue of $51.0 million.
