Police said Wednesday that they are continuing to search for three men who robbed a Thousand Oaks jewelry store Tuesday night.

Lt. Joel Oksner of the East Valley Sheriff’s Department said three men, all in their early 20s, entered Kirk’s Jewelers in The Oaks mall about 7:45 p.m. Tuesday brandishing a handgun.

After herding employees to the rear of the store, the men smashed several jewelry display cases with axes.

“They stole $50,000 in jewelry and then left the store,” Oksner said.

None of the employees were hurt during the robbery, he said.

Shortly after the robbery, detectives discovered a stolen vehicle with out-of-state license plates abandoned just north of Hillcrest Drive in Thousand Oaks. Police believe that the car may have been used as a getaway vehicle after the robbery, Sgt. Bruce Watlington said.
